Daily Care Fees

Pay for services such as furnishings, bedding, laundry and meals.  In a high care facility, this can also include the costs of basic medical supplies, nursing procedures and therapy services.

Daily Care fees are made up of

- a basic daily care fee
- an income-tested fee

Everyone pays the basic daily care fee.  The amount is indexed twice a year in March and September.

If you receive income, other than your pension, you will be assessed by Centrelink or Veterans' Affairs to determine how much extra you can be asked to pay as an income-tested fee

Accommodation Payments

Are used by the aged care home as capital funding to improve the quality of the buildings and services provided.  Not everyone pays this payment.  It depends on the value of your assets at the time of entry to care.

As I grow to understand life less and less,
I learn to love it more and more.
